Q.:  Does LG Electronics support OMA SyncML DS over OBEX ?
A.:  Their UMTS platform based on Obigo, released in 2009 supports OMA DS 1.2:
– KC910 Renoir No – KF900 PRADA   – KM900 Arena
– GD900 Crystal (tested)  – GC900 Viewty Smart  – GT500 Puccini Doubt
An Apple iSync Plug-in is on the CD-ROM (HFS session) and available via Update Tool for Windows: Menu » Customer Support » Application, Manual and Driver Download.

Q.:  How to start OMA DS over OBEX ?
A.:  For Bluetooth, the user has to enable SyncML manually once: Top Menu (blue dice icon at lower right) » Settings » Bluetooth » Options (white list icon at upper left) » iSync on. For USB, the user has to choose the ISync mode when connecting the cable or preset it: Settings » Connectivity » USB connection mode » ISync.

Q.:  Limitations ?
A.:  a) Because of SyncML 1.2 (WBXML), you have to send a SAN package.
b) MIME media types are ignored and special server-URIs (name of data stores) are expected: SAN. The URI for the advertised memos (text/plain) is unknown. Although the server-ID is ignored, ‘iSync’ is always returned.
c) The OBEX layer lacks continue (segmentation) support and is not the same as used in OBEX Push or OBEX File Transfer. Segmentation of SyncML packages is done on the SyncML layer: SyncML message = 10000 bytes; OBEX packet = 8172 bytes.

Q.:  What about newer LG mobile phones ?
A.:  BL40 newchocolate and GD880 Mini offer iSync only in USB CDC ACM: AT$LGAPP=1. This AT command does not start an OBEX server in older phone models.
